Dad Rocks! is the solo monikor of Danish/Icelandic artist Snævar Njáll Albertsson who is also known as singer and guitarist in the band Mimas.
The name can be understood in more than one way: Snævar feels a certain pride in the inspiration he draws from his relations (above all his little daughter). And then, of course, the ’dad rock’ genre pun. Pathos and irony.
In no way is this ‘dad rock’ however. On the contrary, these are quirky compositions with lyrics that are often morbid – something that also characterises his work with Mimas. The songs are filled with details and yet stripped down – making room for glockenspiel, harmonika, trumpet and much more.
